In this blog post, I’ll walk you through the steps on how to prepare for a boudoir shoot to ensure you feel confident, beautiful, and ready for your boudoir photoshoot. Let’s do this!

PAMPER YOURSELF
Your session with Peach and Palm Boudoir is a few days away and you’re wondering “What do I need to do to prepare?” I gotchu babe! Knowing how to prepare for a boudoir shoot can make all the difference.
Pamper yourself
- Use this an opportunity to pamper yourself. Go a few days before your shoot and get a manicure and pedicure! This will give you a finished, polished look. Chipped polish or broken acrylics can be distracting. I want you to feel the best you have felt the day of your session. One of the main reasons I go above and beyond for my clients on session day, is because I want you to be pampered and have a relaxing day, something that doesn’t happen often when preparing for a boudoir shoot.
- At least two days before, wax or shave whatever you need to. Whether it be your eyesbrows or down below. Keep it clean and give it a day to settle so we don’t have any redness or burns. If you don’t typically wax or shave, that’s totally okay! Be true to YOU! Hair is normal, BUMPS are normal, ingrown hairs and red spots are normal. We will photoshop anything that isn’t permanent on your body and make you feel your best.
- LATHER ON THE LOTION. Supple is key for beautiful skin! Be sure to moisturize twice a day for the week leading up to your shoot. On the day of your shoot, use a non-bronzer illuminizing lotion. If you’re having a hard time finding an illuminizing lotion without color, you can absolutely just go with an oil based lotion like Argan Oil Moisturizer or Coconut Oil Moisturizer. Don’t use tinted lotions or anything with color.
- STRETCH. then stretch some more. I promise you, you will be sore. Hell, I am even sore after showing you how to pose! You are holding poses for a few minutes a time, resting when needed. You are using muscles you do not normally use. Stretch your back, legs, and arms. You’ll be holding a ton of poses, and stretching will help relax those muscles. There will be a ton of back arching, so make sure you prioritize your back when you stretch in preparation for your boudoir shoot.
- Lastly, do NOT spray tan or use tanning lotions of any kind before your session!! I can not stress this enough! These can create orange stripes or discoloration to your hands and feet. It is not pretty! It’s okay to have soft porcelain skin, and with the moody lighting my studio offers, sometimes it actually gives you a warmer glow.
